Evelyn Velazquez

Evelyn Velazquez, 70, of Far Rockaway, New York was called to eternal rest on September 11th, 2025, with her daughters by her side. Evelyn was born in Manhattan, NY at Bellvue Hospital to the late Victor Velazquez and Minerva Torres. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in June 1973.From there she then persued a career in office management. She worked for many companies in different capacities over the years, but her employment at St. Johns Episcopal Hospital was the most rewarding. While there she worked as a secretary in the communications department where she also trained other employees. She retired from St Johns after 17 years of dedicated service.

Evelyn was always revered as a happy person who was trustworthy and dependable.

Throughout the years she has touched the lives of so many people with her energy and infectious laugh. If you ever needed someone to talk to, Evelyn was the listening ear you needed. One thing about Evelyn is she stood strong in her faith and never gave up. Though life presented many obstacles, she persevered and was one of the strongest people you could ever know. She was predeceased by her parents and loving grandson. Andre S. Paupaw.

Evelyn leaves behind to cherish her memory, her two daughters, Minerva and Marisol Canales, her brother Edwin Velazquez Sr.(Sarah), a grandson Victor L. Canales, a granddaughter Mariella a Ward, a nephew Edwin Velazquez Jr.(Brandy)two nieces Lisa Dunn Williams(Dino) and Carla Dunn as well as a host of family and friends. She leaves behind special friends who were more like family. Ralphiewho she enjoyed playing dominoes and cards with, her best friend Angie, who was her rock, and George, her loving boyfriend of 15+ years. She loved you all deeply.
