Marie Made Jean Baptiste

Marie Made Jean Baptiste, also known by Ms. Emmanuel by her students, age 70, died on January 25, 2026 at 1:24 am at Mt. Sinai Palliative Care Unit after a very short and aggressive illness. She was born in St. Marc, Haiti, to her mother, Fernande Emmanuel. After getting her Masters in Education, Marie taught as a teacher until she ended up as a university professor and even on the leadership board of her university. She married Josue Jean Baptiste in 1991. After having her daughter, Marie moved to New York in 2000 to give her child a better life and for safety reasons. There, she built a large church and work family as she started her second career of over 20 years in nursing, starting as a CNA before becoming a LPN. Marie was loved for her caring nature, her strict but loving guidance and her steady support. She is survived by her daughter, Jose Made Jean Baptiste and her cousins Guerda Louisne and Enide Louisne. She will be deeply missed.
