Mary Ann Levy, 86, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2026, after a long battle with cancer. She was born in Jamaica, N.Y. on May 17, 1939, to William and Jean Guillem (Kaplan). Mary Ann Guillem married James Levy on April 13, 1958 in Inwood, NY, where they met as children. There, they raised three daughters together. Helpful and friendly to all, she truly enjoyed and excelled at making connections with others. In her early years, she worked as an operator at the NY Telephone Company. While raising her family, she worked at The Gingerbread House toy store, C&R Grand Store, Bolton's Dress Shop, Stern's department store, and Doubleday, Page & Company publishing group. Later, she dedicated many years as a chair-side dental assistant, working hands-on in dental procedures and taking the utmost care of her patients, a position that gave her great pride. She was predeceased by her husband, James, parents, William and Jean, and brother, Bill. Mary Ann leaves behind many loving family members including daughters, Arlene Kline (Gary), Alicia Campanile (Michael), and Amy Horbach (Jim), grandchildren, Heather Gottlieb, Holly Gottlieb, Penny Chevalley, Jason Kline, Jessica Campanile, Michael Campanile, Christopher Campanile, Shane Chavatte (Dina), Mackenzie Neglia, sisters-in-law, Nancy McClellan (Dave), and Carol Artusa (Mike), brother-in-law, Allen Levy (Eleanor), and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visiting hours on Wednesday, April 8 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Meserole Five Towns Funeral Home, 143 Lord Avenue, Inwood, N.Y. 11096. A mass in her remembrance will be held on Thursday, April 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel, 68 Wanser Avenue, Inwood, N.Y. 11096.Entombment will be immediately following mass, at Queen of Peace Cemetery 321 Jericho Tpk, Old Westbury. This parish was extremely special to Mary Ann, as it was the church she was married in and attended all her life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the American Cancer Society <http://cancer.org>.
